The Government has recently announced that they will not implement the requirement for a C-rating in April 2027.  However, their intention is to require a B-rating for buildings over 1,000 square metres by 2031.

The intention is for buildings below 1,000 square metres to continue to be subject to the current minimum E-rating requirement.

The 7-year payback test and exemption mechanisms will remain in place.

This is another example of the government kicking the can down the road and punishing landlords who have been pro-active in working to the C-rating.
